Ground Floor at ServiceMaster to serve as hub for IT innovation and accelerator for local entrepreneurs and developers

Ground Floor is where great ideas rise to the top.

Today ServiceMaster Global Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: SERV), a leading provider of residential and commercial services, announced the opening of its new innovation and accelerator space, Ground Floor. Ground Floor at ServiceMaster is the first area to open in One ServiceMaster Center, ServiceMaster’s downtown Memphis headquarters relocation project.

“ServiceMaster is using technology and the digital marketplace to change the way people buy and use essential services to keep their homes and businesses running smoothly,” said Rob Gillette, chief executive officer at ServiceMaster. “It will differentiate us from the competition and change the way our company goes to market and serves customers – and we think Ground Floor is going to help revolutionize home services.”

The 20,000-square-foot collaborative workspace will serve as a hub for the company to showcase its businesses and transform the residential and commercial services industry through digital-mobile technology. With rentable co-working space, Ground Floor also will be an accelerator for local entrepreneurs and IT developers to create an innovation engine that can attract high-tech talent and investment to Memphis.

“To ServiceMaster, this is more than a new location. It’s a physical manifestation of our commitment to innovation even in its disruptive forms,” said Jamie Smith, senior vice president and chief information officer with ServiceMaster. “Ground Floor is a unique approach, embracing both internal teams and the broader Memphis entrepreneur ecosystem to redefine what is possible in home service experiences.”

“Memphis is fostering a growing technology market, and it’s exciting to see ServiceMaster help lead the charge,” said Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland. “Their continued commitment to innovation and to the city’s momentum helped produce a one-of-a-kind space in which Memphis residents and the local business community can take pride.”

The renovated facility, formerly Tower Records within Peabody Place Mall, is adjacent to the historic Peabody Hotel and steps away from famous Beale Street, offering various restaurants and shops within walking distance for employees and co-working space collaborators. Global interior design and architecture firm, IA Interior Architects, helped transform the space.

“We worked closely with ServiceMaster to develop an innovative, collaborative, state-of-the-art space,” said Angelo LeBron, managing principal of IA’s Atlanta office. “Our goal was to create a space where innovative thinkers felt comfortable enough to enjoy a cup of coffee with a peer, but still inspired to push the boundaries of what’s currently possible in the home services industry. We’re proud of where we ended up.”

The space features an open, collaborative floor plan for both ServiceMaster employees and its tenants, including Front Door, a local real estate company that combines expert service with innovative technology to give the ultimate homeowner experience. Start-ups who rent space in Ground Floor will enjoy modern amenities, ample room to stretch their creative muscles, ServiceMaster-led mentoring, and world-class technology.

Ground Floor is part of ServiceMaster’s new global headquarters currently under construction in downtown Memphis. The company is renovating the former Peabody Place Mall into Class A office space for 1,200 people. One ServiceMaster Center is expected to open in the first quarter of 2018.
